The University of Louisville Alumni Association and its regional and national clubs have established several scholarship funds for students. Each program has various qualifications that must be met before students can apply.

Review the requirements of each scholarship carefully and submit your application by the deadline indicated for each program.

UofL Kentucky Alumni Club Scholarships

Please contact the person listed with each club if you have questions about the scholarships, or see your guidance counselor. If you cannot obtain the information or an application through these methods, please e-mail Amanda James.  Unless noted otherwise, the deadline for all applications is March 15.

Big Sandy Burchell Scholarship

The UofL Big Sandy Burchell Scholarship awards a scholarship to graduating high school seniors planning to attend UofL from the following Kentucky counties:  Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin, Martin, and Pike.

 

Basic requirements are that students must be pursuing a degree at UofL.

Bowling Green Alumni Club

This scholarship is awarded to students from the Bowling Green area who are planning to attend or attend UofL. For information about applying for this scholarship, contact Melanie Cook or the UofL Alumni Office at 502-852-6186.

Capital Region Scholarships

Available to Anderson, Franklin, Henry, Owen, Mercer, Shelby, and Spencer county students.
Criteria:  Must meet the requirements for admission to the University of Louisville.
Award:  One $500 scholarship for the first year.  If a cumulative GPA of 3.0 is maintained, the award will continue up to 4 years.

Central KY/Lexington Alumni Club

The UofL Central Kentucky Alumni Club sponsors two type of scholarships to the Central Kentucky graduating high school seniors planning to attend UofL.

Available to Fayette, Jessamine, Garrard, Woodford, Clark Bourbon, Scott, Harrison, and Madison county students.
Criteria:  Must meet the requirements for admission into the University of Louisville
Award:  One academic school year of full-tuition and possible multiple tuition scholarships.  In addition, a $1,000 Michael R. Baer scholarship awarded to a qualifying student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) is a recovering or current patient, or victim of a terminal illness.

Northern KY/Cincinnati Alumni Club

Awarded to a student from the Northern KY/Cincinnati regional club area who attends UofL. For information on the fall scholarship, contact Kathy Carnes at 859-331-6695.

Please print and complete the NKY Alumni Club Scholarship Application and send to the address indicated on the application form.

Dane A. Wagge Scholarship: The Northern Kentucky Regional Alumni Club present this award annually to a student from their area who will attend the University of Louisville. It is named in memory of Dane A. Wagge, a 1996 graduate of Dixie Heights High School in northern Kentucky, who died during his freshman year at UofL.

Students must meet the following requirements to apply for the Dane Wagge Scholarship:

  • Must have applied for admission prior to April 1, 2012, or have been accepted to UofL
  • Reside within the geographic boundaries of Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, Carroll, Pendleton and Gallatin counties in Kentucky or Hamilton county in Ohio.
  • Submit a completed Dane Wagge scholarship application form and essay
  • Include a letter of recommendation from your high school's administrative or teaching staff
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale and an ACT score, or SAT equivalent, of 20 or above

Lake Cumberland Alumni Club

Preference is given to students from the following counties: Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne. For scholarship criteria, please read the alumni club scholarship application and contact Kim Reynolds at 270-566-1491.

Criteria:  Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 and an ACT or SAT equivalent score of 24 or above
Award:  One $500 scholarship for the academic school year

Lake Cumberland Alumni Club scholarship applications are due May 1st.

UofL National Alumni Club Scholarships

Tampa Bay Alumni Club and the Chi Chi Rodriquez Foundation Internship

Deadline for application each year is March 15

For the several years, the Chi Chi Rodriquez Foundation and Tampa Bay Alumni Club have sponsored a joint internship for a UofL students, generally during his/her sophomore or junior year. The 8-10 week internship allows for the Tampa Bay Club to provide you with a valuable opportunity to perform community service in exchange for financial assistance from the club. To be considered for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be considered a quality UofL student by faculty and peers in the areas of community and academics
  • Make a 6-8 week commitment to the internship
  • Participate in Tampa Bay Club events during the internship
  • Network with community leaders and organizers in the Tampa Bay area

Students are also required to provide the UofL Alumni Office with a complete summary and evaluation of events and assignments during the internship - a critical analysis is preferred.

If you are awarded this internship, you will receive $100 a week stipend in addition to $3,000 in scholarship funds. The Alumni Office will cover the costs of transportation, but you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements.
