Randy Bufford '81

 

Randall J. Bufford received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Louisville in 1981. He served as Head Basketball Manager on the University of Louisville 1980 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship team. Bufford is a former member of the University of Louisville Board of Trustees, the University of Louisville President’s Council, School of Nursing Philanthropy Council, College of Business Board of Advisors, and the Alumni Association Board. He is the recipient of the 2015 University of Louisville College of Business Circle of Fame Award and was the 2016 College of Business Alumni Fellow Award winner. He is a 2021 Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame inductee.

Bufford is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Louisville-based Trilogy Health Services, a healthcare company providing healthcare, wellness and hospitality services to seniors. Trilogy’s portfolio includes 127 senior living communities across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and other services. The company also provides institutional pharmacy and rehabilitative services in 14 states under its Synchrony Health Services brand.

Prior to founding Trilogy in 1997, Bufford served as the Executive Vice President, Business Development for Centennial HealthCare. Before joining Centennial, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Transitional Health Services of Louisville. He held various positions with The Cardinal Group including Chief Financial Officer and started his professional career as an auditor with Arthur Young & Company, CPAs.

Bufford established the Trilogy Foundation, a nonprofit which provides emergency and educational assistance to the employees of Trilogy Health Services. He and his wife, Susan, launched The Bufford Family Foundation, to fund charitable causes across the Louisville community with a simple message that “Helping People is the Right Thing to Do”.

Randy and Susan have been married 37 years and have three children. David (Rachel, Hayden and Hunter), Jonathan (Samantha) and Clinton (Paige).
