Walter Earl Reed '73

Walter Earl Reed III received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1973 from the University of Louisville. While a student at the University of Louisville, he was a member of the men’s golf team and played trumpet in the marching band. Reed is a recipient of the 1991 College of Business Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2016, he was inducted into the University of Louisville College of Business Entrepreneurship Circle of Fame. Reed is a member of the College of Business Board of Advisors, the College of Business Entrepreneurial Council, Chairman of the University of Louisville Foundation Board and member of the University of Louisville Real Estate Foundation. He is a former member of the President's Council.

Reed is the founder of Springstone, Inc., a developer and operator of hospitals specializing in mental illness and addiction treatment. He is currently a board member and past Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Springstone currently has 18 hospitals across nine states. He is a founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of The Allegro Group, which provides healthcare financial and operating advisory services. Reed has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LifeCare Management Services, LLC, and Rehab Designs of America. He was Chief Financial Officer and board member of Vencor, Inc. (now Kindred Healthcare, Inc.) and was previously a member of the Humana financial operating team. He began his career with Ernst & Young after graduating from UofL.

Earl and his wife, Bridgett, reside in the Louisville area. They have two married children Walter E. Reed IV (Michelle) and Anne Marie Reed MacLean (Daniel) and six beautiful grandchildren.
