James Sublett '70, '75

Dr. James L. Sublett received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1970, and his Doctor of Medicine in 1975, both from the University of Louisville. He also completed his Medical Residency in Pediatrics in 1977 and his Fellowship in Allergy & Immunology in 1979 at the University of Louisville. Dr. Sublett is a member of the University of Louisville President’s Council and the Medical School Alumni Council. He has established the Sublett Fund in Allergy & Immunology at the School of Medicine.

Dr. Sublett is the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Family Allergy & Asthma. Based in Louisville with offices throughout Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. He has served as Clinical Professor of Pediatric Allergy & Immunology at the University of Louisville since 1979 and was the Section Chief of Pediatric Allergy & Immunology for 19 years. Dr. Sublett is a frequently invited national and international speaker on medical socioeconomics, anaphylaxis, asthma, food allergy and indoor environmental issues.

Dr. Sublett has served as President of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and is the College’s Executive Director of Advocacy and Governmental Affairs. He has been honored by the College as a Distinguished Fellow. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Dr. Sublett sits on several boards including the Norton Healthcare Board of Trustees and the World Allergy Organization. He serves on the editorial board for the World Allergy Organization Journal., the WAO’s Emerging Societies Program Committee and as an instructor with the WAO’s Training Schools in developing countries.

James and his wife, Lelia, a 1975 graduate of the University of Louisville College of Education, reside in Anchorage, Kentucky. They have four children and four grandchildren.
