THINK YOU KNOW A&S? Think Again!

The half-day program will center around the ideas of cultural evolution, paradigm shifts and evolving human consciousness. The day will begin with a light English breakfast while taking in a student performance of excerpts of Shakespeare’s The Tempest directed by Theatre Arts Professor Rinda Frye and post-performance discussion led by English Professor Julia Dietrich. After a short break, enjoy a brief and entertaining lecture on Mr. Jefferson and the Giant Moose (a book about Thomas Jefferson and his attempts to counter the French conception of American degeneracy) by the book’s author, biology professor and humanist, Lee Dugatkin. Take in a glass blowing demonstration. Finally, cap it all off with a public talk by this year's A&S Alumni Fellow, David "Jelly" Helm Jelly, a 1987 Fine Arts graduate and pioneer in the field of advertising, will discuss “The Hero’s Journey: A Blueprint for Personal, Professional and Cultural Evolution.” Everything, including a light breakfast and a boxed lunch, are included in the $25 price of registration.
