Join us for the October Optimal Aging Lecture. Benjamin Mast, Ph.D., ABPP will present, "Understanding the Person with Alzheimer's Disease: Person-Centered Perspectives on Dementia Care."
Lecture Summary
What image comes to mind when you think of a person with Alzheimer’s Disease? People with dementia differ in many ways that affect their functioning and care needs. Yet, many people have in their minds a stereotypical idea of a person with dementia. Person-centered care aims to see the person with dementia as an individual, rather than focusing on the illness or abilities lost. This lecture explores the principles of person-centered assessment and care and how these apply to the individual and their unique experiences of living with dementia.
